EUAA at Seminar on AYUSH Products and Export Promotion

EUAA was invited to the seminar on “Roadmap for Export Promotion of AYUSH Products – Regulatory / Registration Guidelines for Europe“, 10 August 2016 at the Arya Vaidya Chikitasalayam, Coimbatore.  The event was organised by PHARMEXCIL (Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India and sponsored by Arya Vaidya Chikitasalayam, Coimbatore with support from Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturers Organisation of India (AMMOI), Ayurvedic Drug Manufacturers Association (ADMA) and Confederation for Ayurvedic Renaissance-Keralam Limited (CARe KERALAM Ltd.)

The inaugural session was presided by Padmasri Dr P R Krishnakumar, Managing Director, The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) Ltd. and Chancellor, Avinashilingam University for Women, Coimbatore, India with a keynote address by the Chief Guest, Sudhanshu Pandey IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, Dr Ranjit Puranik, ADMA, Shri Aravind Varchaswi, Trustee, Sri Sri Ayurveda, India.

The day-long event included three further sessions:

  1. Ayurveda-India’s Perspective (with presentations by Dr Anupam Srivatsava, Scientist, Ministry of AYUSH, Dr Rajiv Vasudevan of AyurVAID, Dr D Ramanathan of Sitaram Ayurveda, Ajay George Varghese, Ranjit Puranik, CEO, Shree Dhootapapeshwar Limited, Somit Kumar AVP-Coimbatore, Aravind Varchaswi,, Ajayita Chanana, President, Confederation of Wellness, Medical Tourism and Spas (India), Arun Gupta, Head Medical Affairs at Dabur Research & Development Centre.
  2. Ayurveda Europe’s Perspective with presentations by Dr Simone Hunziker, Founding President, Indo-Swiss Ayurveda Foundation, EUAA (Dr Madan Thangavelu and Dr Harsha Gramminger) and Prof. Dr.med. Valdis PIRAGS, Faculty of Medicine, and Director, Centre of Complementary Medicine, University of Latvia.
  3. Panel discussion on a “Roadmap for promoting Ayurveda in Europe” chaired by EUAA and with PHARMEXCIL’s AYUSH Advisory Group Members Ajay George Varghese & Dr K Anil Kumar, Prof. Dr.med. Valdis PIRAGS, Faculty of Medicine, University of Latvia and officials from Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

The early goals identified during the day will be further refined during the two days at EWAC#2 and in particular at the Policy Day and Strategy Meeting at EWAC#2 on Monday 17 October 2016 focused on the theme: “AYUSH & Europe: Repositioning Europe for Globalization of Ayurveda & AUYSH Systems”.
